Donald Howell

Waynesville, Donald Howell, age 92, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Mission Memorial Campus.

A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Claude and Sophia Nichols Howell.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Lucy Howell and a brother, Kenneth Howell.  Donald retired after 30 years of service in the receiving department with Dayco Corporation.  He had a passion for working with antiques autos and attending antique car shows.

Donald is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loyce Herron Howell; four sons, John Howell (Lynn), E. Mark Howell (Autumn Hall), Donnie Howell and Charles Howell; grandson, Phillip Howell (Brieanna); and a great-grandson, Carter Howell.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Sutton officiating.  Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 9:50 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waynesville Fireman’s Association, 1022 N. Main Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.

The care of Mr. Howell has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
