Maggie Vallley, Donald Moody, age 85, of 74 Badd Lane, died Monday, December 8, 2008 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Ernest and Jeanette Caldwell Moody. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Henry and two brothers, Jack Moody and Ernest Moody, Jr. He retired from Dayco from the Spreader Department after 40 years of service. Mr. Moody served in the United States Army during WWII where he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Humanitarian Service and Good Conduct Medals and served in the National Guard retiring as a Staff Sergeant after 33 years. He enjoyed farming, hiking, camping and fishing with his grandchildren. He attended Waynesville Christian Fellowship Church and was a member of the DAV. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Agnes Cogdill Moody; one daughter, Adonna Wayman and her husband, David of Waynesville; four sons, George Moody, and his wife, Cathy of Mooresville, NC, Lloyd Moody, and his wife, Rebecca, of Dallas, TX, Floyd Moody, and his wife, Debbie, of Summerville, SC and E. J. Moody, and his wife, Beth, of White Oak; two sisters, Lucille Peters and Sue Campbell; two brothers, Wayne and Charles Moody; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Clayton Davis officiating. Entombment will be at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
