Donald Norris

Waynesville, Donald Wayne "Don" Norris, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Mission Hospital. He was a native of Durant, Oklahoma and the son of the late Floyd M. and Beth Wilson Norris. He was former Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Orange, Texas and First Baptist Church of Lewisville, Texas. Don retired in 1992 serving as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church of Waynesville after 18 years service. He especially enjoyed the music of handbells and was instrumental in developing and directing the Handbell Choir at First Baptist and also sang in the Community Choir. He was a member of the Waynesville Rotary Club. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Shankle Norris; his son, Jeff Norris, of Waynesville; one sister, Jonell Bailey and husband, James, of Weatherford, Texas; and three brothers, Jerry Norris and wife, Judith, of Newark, Texas, Larry Norris of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Kenneth Norris and wife, Jennifer, of Paris, Texas. A celebration of Don's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. Gary Hearon and Reverend Dr. Robert Prince officiating.
