Maggie Valley-Donald Lee Scott, age 72, of 9 Forest Drive, Maggie Valley, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Almetz, Kansas, and former resident of Palm Springs, California, he was the son of the late Arthur Clyde and Elsie Ann Mantz Scott. He retired as a police officer after serving with both the City of Los Angeles and Palm Springs Police Departments. He was U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. Upon relocating to Maggie Valley, he spent 18 1/2 years as a starter for the Maggie Valley Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Rebecca Jones Scott; two daughters, Roxanne Forsythe of Seaford, Delaware and Donna Forsythe of Palm Springs, California; four sons, Arthur Scott and his wife Tina, of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Steve Forsythe of Henderson, David Forsythe and Scott Forsythe, both of Maggie Valley; two sisters Pat Rauster and her husband Lynn, of Sequim, Washington, and Iola Morrison of Alhambra, California; a brother Les Scott of Woodland, Washington; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Burial will follow at N.C. State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin Graham Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, N.C. 28607.
