Donald Scruggs

Donald Stevenson Scruggs, age 75, of Willis Cove Road died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Royce Scruggs and Ruth Mann Cowan. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Scruggs. He was employed for five years with Ecusta before going to work at Champion International where he retired with 36 years of service. He was a member of Rocky Face Baptist Church. Don loved spending time camping with his family at Standing Indian. He also enjoyed digging ramps, attending car and gun shows, restoring antique automobiles, and was very active in his church. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth "Ann" Reeves Scruggs; three sons, Bryan Scruggs of Canton, Aaron Scruggs and his wife, Jill, of Canton, and Dewayne Scruggs and his wife, Lisa, of Bethel; and a grandson, Clayton Scruggs. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2009, at Rocky Face Baptist Church with the Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
