Don Williams, a beloved member of the community, passed away on September 26, 2023, at Carolina Caring. He was born on July 21, 1939, in Haywood County. Don had a remarkable career and was known for his dedication and hard work.

Don's professional journey began at Smathers Market in Canton, where he worked tirelessly for 13 years. Following that, he went on to own and operate Mark Donald's Country Store in Clyde for a decade. After retiring from the store, Don joined Winn-Dixie and made valuable contributions to their team for several years.

Don had a range of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He found solace in playing the piano and listening to music. Camping trips to Cataloochee were among his favorite outdoor activities, along with his cherished Sunday Rides and picnics.

Among Don's proudest accomplishments was his reputation for making delicious BBQ sandwiches at his Country Store. His culinary skills were admired by all who had the pleasure of savoring his creations.

Don was preceded in death by his father Virge Williams and mother Evelyn Massie Williams; and one sister, Jenny Mack. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Beth Williams; daughter Angie Wright (David); son Mark "Opie" Williams (Gail); sister Dottie Carver; four grandchildren: Jessie Wright, Monica Wright, Brittany Williams Henson (Aaron), and Zachary Williams (Carla); as well as one great-granddaughter Kylie Henson.
