Donald "Don" Smith

Donald Palmer Smith, 68, was taken to his home in Heaven August 20, 2021.

A native of Knoxville, he was the son of Wray and Mabel (Palmer) Smith. In addition, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Meadows Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Ann Miller Smith; children, Andrew, Rachel, Michelle and Anna Rose, and grandson, Leo Palmer; his brother Darrell Smith and wife Cindy (Brown) of Knoxville.  He was dedicated employee of Evergreen Foundation, formerly Smoky Mountain Mental Health for 39 years.

Don’s joy and passion in life was serving his Lord Jesus and loving family and friends unconditionally.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. at his church, Pinnacle Baptist in Canton, NC on Tuesday, August 24th.  This will be an outdoor ceremony with all Covid precautions and distancing practiced.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pinnacle Church Outreach Program, via the website pinnacle.church/give.

The care of Mr. Smith has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
