Donna Farnsworth

Clyde, Donna Jean Farnsworth was born on July 3, 1949 in Porterville, California. She was the first born child of Roy and Velda Ream. She graduated from Porterville High School in 1967 and graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1972. This is where she met and later married her husband, John Farnsworth. Donna worked as an elementary school teacher, a preschool teacher, and a real estate agent during her adult life, but found great joy doing volunteer work. While living in Calistoga, California, she was an active member of Highlands Christian Fellowship and the local garden and art clubs, holding offices including president, and organizing numerous events for each organization. She and John moved to Clyde, North Carolina in 2002 where Donna quickly picked up her volunteer activities becoming involved in the Mountain View Garden Club, Blue Ridge Watermedia Society, Longs Chapel, Celebrate Recovery, and the Open Door, once again using her considerable organizing and people skills. Donna loved to travel and her passion was snorkeling, especially in the Caribbean's warm oceans. Donna died of heart failure on January 25, 2011 on the island of Antigua doing what she loved, snorkeling among the brightly colored plants, corals and fishes of God's fantastic underwater world. Donna is survived by her husband of 36 years, John Farnsworth, of Clyde, North Carolina. She is also survived by one sister, Linda Smith; one brother, Roy Charles Ream; and her niece and nephew, Jennifer Marroquin and Brad Smith. A memorial service for Donna will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church at 133 Old Clyde Road, Clyde, North Carolina. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Dress may be casual or Sunday best.
