Dora Ledford

Clyde, Elizabeth Dora Ledford passed away February 05, 2013 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home at the age of 103. She was one of twelve children born to the late Cambell and Lavada Rhinehart of Madison County. She was preceded in death by seven sisters and four brothers; her husband, Lloyd, in 1988; her two sons, Clarence, in 1998, Hugh in 2012 and her daughter-in-law, Irene R. Ledford. She was a lifelong resident of the Crabtree Community in Haywood County and was the oldest member of Crabtree Baptist Church. Mrs. Ledford retired from the American Enka Plant. She was also a farmer and an avid gardener. She loved working in her flowers and always had beautiful ones on her front porch. Her greatest joy was being with her family, especially at birthdays and holidays. She is survived by her daughters, Pauline Wood, of Candler, Alline Rice (Josh) of Crabtree and one daughter-in-law, Virginia Ledford, of Waynesville. Also surviving are granddaughters, Sandra Crawford of Asheville, Linda Duckett (Mike) of Waynesville, Debbie Messer (Jerry) of Crabtree, and LaDonna Chapman (Tony) of Hickory; grandsons, Dale Glance (Debbie) of Clyde, Gene Ledford of Crabtree, Kevin Ledford of Waynesville and Bobby Ledford (Ingrid) of Fines Creek; six great-grandsons; six great- granddaughters; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Crabtree Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Ledbetter and Reverend Dennis Ruff officiating. Burial will follow at Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. prior to services and at other times, at the residence of Alline Rice. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to Crabtree Baptist Cemetery, 480 Crabtree Church Road, Clyde, 28721, or Silver Bluff Activity Fund, 100 Silver Bluff Drive, Canton, NC 28716. The family would like to express a special thanks to Silver Bluff Nursing Home, especially the staff on the 200 Hall. Also, a very special thank you to Michael Conard for the beautiful music "Mamaw" loved so much and to Cindy Rogers for the excellent care and love that was given.
