Canton - Doris Elizabeth Edwards Cochran, 93, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

A native of Clarksville, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Stanhope Eugene and Ila Green Allen Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Hoyt and Jack Edwards; and one sister, Ann VanCleve. Doris was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Canton and she retired from Lambuth Inn at Lake Junaluska Assembly.

She is survived by two children, James David Cochran and wife, Nancy, of Cary; one daughter, Donna Deaver and husband, Robert, of Canton; three grandchildren, Charles Cochran, Brian Cable, and Michael Deaver; three great-grandchildren; one niece, Lydia Ogilby; and one nephew, Hoyt Warrenfeltz.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road with the Reverend Jodi Hopkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Canton, 29 Newfound Street, Canton, NC 28716.
