Doris Duvall

Doris Jean Howell Duvall, 77, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at MedWest-Haywood. A native of Hamilton, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Paul Jennings and Rebecca Marie Little Howell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Anne Howell and Kathryn Ramsey; and one brother, Tommy Howell. Doris was co-owner and operator of Duvall's Restaurant in Maggie Valley for ten years and in 1990 they moved to their present location in Waynesville. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ernest Duvall; two sons, Terry Duvall and his wife, Nechia, and Roger Duvall and his wife, Penny; two daughters, Darlene Pressley and her husband, Kevin, and Lori Hicks and her husband, Mark; one brother, Jarrett Howell; six grandchildren, Bryan Duvall, Morgan Ayers, Jordan Hicks, Lacey Hicks, Zakk Duvall, and Brianna Hicks; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley and Emily Duvall. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Alan Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Sunny Point Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at Doris and Ernie's Home.
