"In Loving Memory" Canton – Doris "Dot" Louise Ensley Grogan, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late William McKinley Ensley and Effie Logan Ensley. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wilson Grogan, in 2009; a sister, Mildred Woody; four brothers, Austin Ensley, Ronald Ensley, Melvin Ensley, and Vean Ensley; and one son-in-law, Terry Sharpe. Dot will be remembered as the "matriarch" of her family, always caring for them selflessly with sincere love and care. She was a talented quilter and sewed by hand many beautiful quilts and was a lifelong member of Springhill Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters; Sheila G. Sharpe, of Monroe, NC, Marcia Taylor and her husband, Rocky, of Connelly Springs, NC; one son, Rick Grogan and his wife Karen, of Canton; one sister, Nova West and her husband, Bill, of Inman, SC; one brother, Wilton Ensley and his wife, Ethel, of Andrews; six grandchildren, Laura Turner, Tony Sharpe, Kaleb Taylor, Kyla Vance, Luke Grogan, and Levi Grogan; and five great-grandchildren, Lexy Sharpe, Loulou Sharpe, Corey Turner, Cadee Turner, Carrie Turner, Zane Taylor, Zoey Taylor, Lincoln Vance, Aspen Vance, and Lorelei Vance. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Spring Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Rhea officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3:45 prior to the service at the church.
