Doris Kepley

June 20, 1934 — January 13, 2017

Waynesville, Doris Kepley, 82, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 in Easley, South Carolina where she has lived for the past few years. Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Myrtle Moore Young. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Kepley, who died in 1980; three daughters, Joyce Smith, Linda Kay Ray and Jean Carpenter; two sons, Wayne and Phillip Ray; two sisters, Donna Woodring and Phyllis Jean Young; two brothers, Gerald and Charles Young. Doris was a member of New Covenant Church and loved being with family and going to yard sales. Doris is survived by a daughter, Nancy Ray, of Canton; a sister, Marie Sutton (Luther) of Waynesville; six grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Frank Harvey officiating. Burial will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Haywood Pathways Center, 179 Hemlock Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
