Doris Mann

Doris Hipps Mann, age 83, died unexpectedly Sunday, March 9, 2008, at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Jeter and Victoria Suttles Hipps. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Harley Vance Mann, Jr., who died in 1976; two brothers, Earl and Reeves Hipps. She was a member of West Canton Baptist Church and a loyal member of Sonoma #254 Order of the Eastern Star. Doris enjoyed fellowship at the Canton Senior Center, traveling, playing cards, and was an avid puzzle worker. She is survived by two sisters, Ruth Benfield of Spring Hill, FL and Betty Brookshire and her husband, Joe, of Canton; several nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly; and Rosalee Fesperman of Salisbury, NC, who was like a daughter to her. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Joe Steadman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Canton Senior Center, 1 Pigeon Street, Canton, NC 28716.
