Doris Morgan Odum, born on May 11, 1940, in Buncombe County, NC, peacefully passed away in the nighttime hours of January 6, 2025, at Four Seasons Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, NC, with her children by her side. She was a cherished member of her family and community, known for her warmth and kindness.

In her professional life, Doris was employed in the warehouse at Memorial Mission & St. Joseph Hospital, where she diligently stocked supplies, contributing to the essential operations of the facility. Her work ethic and dedication were commendable, mirroring her approach to life and family.

Doris's family was at the heart of her existence. She loved her family dearly and relished the time spent together on the Morgan property. Many cherished memories were created over Sunday dinners, where laughter and love filled the air, as family members gathered on the porch to share their lives. Doris was an excellent cook and baker, renowned for her exceptional pound cake and macaroni and cheese. Her love for ice cream of any kind brought joy not only to herself but to those lucky enough to share it with her.

A devoted member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Doris actively participated in the Women's Group and Bible Study Group, reflecting her commitment to her faith and community. She ensured her family was always present in the church, highlighting the importance she placed on both spirituality and family bonds. Doris was also an avid reader, at times reading over a hundred books in a year, ranging from historical books to Christian novels and anything in between.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Farrell Morgan and Mary Ethel King Morgan; her beloved husband, James Edward "Jim" Odum, who passed in September 2024; her children, Donald James Odum and Deanna Marie Odum; her sisters, Maxine Morgan Thompson, Carolyn Morgan Swayngim, and Linda Morgan Taylor; and her daughter-in-law, Monica Taylor Crowe.

She is survived by her loving children, Allen Crowe of Arden, Daryl "Yogi" Crowe (Jennifer) of Candler, and Dana Odum Haney (Jeff) of Candler. Doris took great pride in her grandchildren, Jennifer Luther, Kymber Rainwater (Zach), Katelyn Haney, Brad Haney, and Dustin Crowe (Alyissa), as well as her great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Luther, Xander Luther, Kenzleigh Rainwater, and Scarlett Rainwater.

The family will receive friends at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Candler from 1:00 p.m to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2025, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Eric Hill and Pastor Mike Leslie will be officiating.
