Clyde - Doris Burke Phillips, 88, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A native of Hudson County, New Jersey, she was a daughter of the late John Burke and Virginia Michie Chenoweth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Huel Phillips, who died in 2009 and a son-in-law, Bruce Wilson. Doris was employed by American Enka (BASF) and was a member and deacon of Clyde First Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, reading, making baskets and going to Holden Beach with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Theresa Phillips and Donna Wilson; two sons, Charles Phillips (Gretta) and David Phillips (Geoff Dupre); two sisters, Helen Judkins and Barbara Ann Quarles; four grandchildren, Jesse Phillips (Heather), Josh Wilson (Carla), Mark Wilson (Caroline), and Kelli Smathers (Trent); and six great-grandchildren, Clay Phillips, Mary Allen and Laurel Wilson, Aaron and Noah Wilson, and Owen Smathers.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips and Reverend Scotty Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Lower Coward Cemetery in Caney Fork. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
