Clyde, Dorotha Mae Smith Clark, age 80, of Carolina Boulevard, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center in Asheville. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Harrison and Tenney Russell Smith and was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tommy Green, three brothers, and four sisters. Dorotha was a self taught organist and played at First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska where she was a member. She was an avid gardener and loved to can her harvest of vegetables. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Waymeth Ray Clark; two daughters, Carolyn Green of the Bethel Community and Vickie Jumper and her husband, Robert, of Clyde; two sons, Timothy Ray Clark and his wife, Cindi, of Candler and Waymeth Keith Clark and his wife, Virginia Clontz Clark, of Canton; two sisters, Shirley Dowdle of Hendersonville and Ruth Hannah of Lavonia, Georgia; one brother, Earl Smith, of Clyde; four grandchildren, Miranda Ruff, Mia Rathbone, Megan and Ethan Clark; two great grandchildren, Melissa and Tommy Ruff; two step-grandchildren, Jamie High and Julie Whitehurst; and one step great granddaughter, Emma Alise Whitehurst. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska with Reverend Jimmy Huey, Reverend Thad Dowdle, Reverend Alan Adams, and Reverend Sam Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Dawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Waynesville is in charge of arrangements.
