Waynesville - Dorothy Baker Goff Battrick, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Silver Bluff Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Dorothy was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 10, 1918. She lived in Roanoke and Fort Wayne Indiana for many years. She was employed as a telephone operator and was a member of the Eastern Star and White Shrine and was an active member of Roanoke United Methodist Church. Dorothy then moved to Bradenton, Florida where she was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Heather Hills Shuffle Team, winning first place in the Bradenton, Florida Shuffle Board Tournament. Following ill health, she moved to Clyde, North Carolina to live with her daughter. She was currently a member of Long's Chapel Methodist Church at Lake Junaluska, North Carolina. Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Charles F. Baker; mother, Maude Treece; first husband, Earl E. Goff and second husband, John Battrick; a brother, Harry Baker; one sister, Gladys Lochner, grandson, Greg Goff; and a niece Phyllis Russell. She is survived by a son, Stanley Goff, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; a daughter, Gwilli Gerichek, of Clyde, North Carolina; grandchildren, Paul and Randy Goff, of Indiana, David and Brad Brendell of North Carolina; and Janna Brendell of South Carolina. Local arrangements will be handled by Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville, North Carolina. Sloan's Funeral Home of Fort Wayne, Indiana will conduct graveside services at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Long's Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 459, Lake Junaluska, NC 28745 or the charity of choice.
