Dorothy Clark

Dorothy Smathers Clark, age 83, of Grandview Circle, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Jackson County, she had lived in Haywood County most of her life and was a daughter of the late William Rufus and Inez Derrick Smathers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Medford Clark; a daughter, Patty Jo Clark; three brothers; and four sisters. She was a secretary at Haywood County Hospital for 20 years and a member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. Dorothy enjoyed life and loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by three sisters, Judy Smathers and Margie Stamey and her husband, Troy, and Pat Nix; one brother, Gordon Smathers and his wife, Betty, all of Waynesville; special niece and caregivers, Berlion and Nancy Green; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; special friends, Dean Reeves, Becky and Freddie Ferguson and their son, Matt; Gloria and Jim Nicholson. A special thanks to Infusion Therapist's, Myra, Janet and Vince; also Dr. Heller, Dr. George Brown and Dr. Colon. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Calvary Road Baptist Church with Reverend John Swanger and Reverend J.D. Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park with deacons of the church serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Memorials may be made to the Children's Home Society, P.O.
