Dorothy Davis

Dorothy Jean Hawkins "Dot" Davis, age 76, of Wesley Street, died on Thursday, November 24, 2011, at John F. Keever Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rose Jones Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James A. Davis and a brother, Charles Hawkins, Jr. She was a member of Canton First United Methodist Church. Dot was a former employee with the Canton Police Department and former co-owner of a ceramics shop in Canton. She was a volunteer for the North Carolina National Guard units 210th and 211th. She is survived by a son, Michael James Davis of Candler; a sister-in-law, Faye Davis Woodfin of Gramling, SC; and very special friends, Charles Leatherwood, Kathy, Ron, and Ben Wilson. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home the Reverend Dustin D. James and Reverend Roy Houston officiating.
