Dorothy Galloway

Canton, Dorothy "Dot" Bridges Galloway, age 81 passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Jackson County, she lived in Haywood County the majority of her life. She was the daughter of the late Richmond P. and Nannie Raby Bridges. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Robert L. Galloway, who died in 2004; two brothers Carl R. and Lloyd "Bud" Bridges; three sisters, Hazel Bridges, Ruth Wood and Mildred Burnette. Dot graduated Waynesville Township High School and Greenville School of Nursing as an LPN. She was a charter of East Waynesville Baptist Church and New Fellowship Baptist Church in Newport, Tennessee and is a present member of Barbersville Baptist Church of Waynesville. Dot worked for Dr. James Fender for twelve years and she and her husband were house parents at Broyhill Baptist Children's Home for four years. Dot is survived by a cousin Paul Raby, of Candler; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2016 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Kris Estep and Reverend Darrell Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Old Bon-A-Venture cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
