Waynesville- Dorothy "Dot" Reeves Heffner, 75, died Wednesday, August 2, 2006, at home. She was the daughter of Maude and the late Millard Reeves of Swain County. Dot was preceded in death also by her husband Ray Heffner. She is survived by her mother, daughter and son-in-law Judy and Albert Allen, granddaughters Heather Allen and Kristie and her husband Stan Hannah, and great-granddaughter Mikayla. Dot graduated from Swain County High School and was a member of Pleasant Balsam Missionary Baptist Church. She was a vibrant woman, who God blessed with many talents. Nanny was an ingenious cook, expert seamstress, skilled artist, and proficient pianist. Above all, she prioritized the care of her family. While Dot has left a void, we know that she is in heaven, where she has longed to be. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant Balsam Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Paul Carden will officiate and be assisted by Reverends Virgil Holloway and Ted Reeves. Music will be provided by great-granddaughter Mikayla, Bill Smiley, Paul Smiley, Vicki King, and the church's choir. Pallbearers will be Monroe Cope, Mike Heffner, Gary Robinson, Melvin Shuler, Bill Smiley, and Paul Smiley. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:15 p.m. before the funeral service at the church. Dot will be buried in the Reeves' family cemetery in Bryson City, NC. Memorial gifts may be given in Dot's name to Pleasant Balsam Missionary Baptist Church's building fund, 2404 Old Balsam Road, Waynesville, NC 28786, or Gideon's International, P.O.
