Dorothy Jones

Canton-Dorothy Whitmire Jones-96 died Thursday, April 10, 2003 at her residence.

She was a native of Transylvania County and was a daughter of the late Simpson Toliver and Leona Fisher Whitmire. She was the wife of the late John Paul Jones who died in 1978 and was also preceded in death by her son, Curtis P. Jones. She was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Coleen J. Howery and her husband Bob of Newton, Helen J. Burch and husband Carroll of Clyde and Ruby J. Knight of Black Mountain, one son, Locke M. Jones and wife Carol of Canton, a daughter-in-law, Dorthea C. Jones of Hepzipah, GA, one sister, Eula W. Pressley of Clyde, 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Haywood County, Home Health Bldg, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or to Ridgeway Baptist Church Piano Fund, 525 Old 19/23 Hwy, Candler, NC 28715.
