Dorothy Lane

Canton-Dorothy Agnes Giles Lane, age 73 of Hidden Valley Circle, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2002.

She was a native of Loudon County, Tennessee and had resided in Haywood County since 1972. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Hazel Chambers Giles.

She attended Loudon County High School. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and the Bethel Presbyterian Church.

She was the loving wife of 51 years of William D. ''Bill'' Lane; two daughters, Sheila Diane Lane, of the home and Teresa Lane Goodson and her husband, David of Waynesville; five sisters, Alta Ruth Weaver and her husband Houston, of Roswell, GA, Mary Nell Hughes and Lynda Gobel and her husband Jack, all of Loudon, TN, Geraldine Steele and her husband Delmus, of Highland Village, TX and Carolyn Snow and her husband Vaughn, of Cleveland, TN; three brothers, Tommy Giles and his wife, Linda, of Loudon, TN, Roy Giles and his wife Bernice, of Beauford, SC and Bennie Giles, of Colorado.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes. The Reverend Riley Covin and Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby will officiate. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2002 at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

The pallbearers will be the members of the Sonoma Masonic Lodge #472: Geof Cooper, Carroll Stockton, Jerry Hoglen, Stanley Henson, Larry Hughes and Hugh K. Terrell.
