Dorothy Ledford

Clyde, Dorothy Hill Ledford, 96, of the Fines Creek Community, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Haywood Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cocke County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Hattie Hall Hill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Steve Ledford, who died in 1987; a son, Don Ledford; a grandson, Daniel Ledford; four brothers; and five sisters. Dorothy loved flowers, being outdoors and gospel and bluegrass music. She especially loved being with and cooking for her family and friends. Dorothy is survived by four daughters, Wilma Ferguson and husband, Archie of Poquoson, Virginia, Margie Poole and husband, Cliff of Hampton, Virginia; Linda Teague and husband, Jake of Waynesville and Brenda Ferguson and special friend, Mike Freeman, of Clyde; a son, Paul Ledford and special friend, Katherine Hahn of Clyde; daughter-in-law, Catherine Ledford, of Waynesville; two sisters, Lee Perry of Morristown, Tennessee and Martha Trantham of Yorktown, Virginia; 9 grandchildren, Scott, Belinda M., Stevie, Effie, Myra, Edmund, Rendell, Belinda R., and Deedie; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great –great-grandchild; and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Kenny Banks, Reverend Billy Ferguson, Reverend Gary Putnam, Reverend Jimmy Moore and Reverend Marty Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Ledford Family Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Frank Lattimore, Nick Nicosia, Danny and Kirk Messer, Mike Ramsey, Marvin Hill, Jeff Teague and Kenny Duckett. Honorary pallbearers will be DeCurtis Rogers, Scott Smith, Stevie Ledford and Lee Ross. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Belmont Baptist Church Building Fund in her memory, 55 Belmont Church Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
