Dorothy Peterson

Maggie Valley, Dorothy Elizabeth Hamilton Peterson, age 96, of passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at her residence. A native of Rochester Mills, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Annie Jane Simpson Hamilton and was also preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Bernard Peterson, who died November 21, 2007, her sister Rebecca and brothers Blaine and John. She was a member of Maggie Valley United Methodist Church. Dorothy met Gordon while she was working for Dr. Johansson in Chicago IL. They were married on May 3rd 1939 and celebrated their 68th anniversary in 2007. Dorothy worked for many years for Bell and Howell until she and Gordon founded Peterson Picture Frame Company in 1947, where they worked together every day until they retired to Maggie Valley in 1981. It is so great to know that they have reunited in heaven! She is survived by her sister, Helen Baun, of Rochester Mills, Pennsylvania as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on December 17, 2009, at Maggie Valley United Methodist Church with Revs Richard Buff, Erma Bond and David Reeves officiating. Inurnment will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers it was Dorothy and Gordon's wish that donations be made to the Maggie Valley United Methodist Church (Child Care Center) P.O. Box 112, Maggie Valley, NC 28751. The family would like to take this time to thank the people at Haywood County Hospice and Care Angels who made Dorothy's time at home so wonderful and comfortable; God Bless you all.
