Englewood, Florida, Dorothy Mae Saunders Rhinehart, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
Dorothy was born in Macon County on April 23, 1926, to Sam and Bertha Saunders and lived in Franklin until moving to Canton where she met and later married Clyde Rhinehart after high school in 1946.
Dorothy was quintessential ministers’ wife. Besides tending to their two sons, she was training union teacher, played piano for the church, sang in the choir and sometimes lead the choir along with various other tasks that fell to her.
Wherever Clyde ministered in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington or Texas, Dorothy and Clyde made friendships that lasted a lifetime. The friends they made were always a big part of our family life all through the years.
Dorothy had a fulfilling life and lived her later years by the sunny Gulf shores of Englewood, Florida.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Clyde Rhinehart, her brothers, Winfred and Luther Saunders.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Roger Rhinehart (Linda Neas Rhinehart), of South Deerfield, Massachusetts and Wayne Rhinehart, of Englewood, Florida; two grandchildren, Jesse, of Conway, Massachusetts and Bridget, of London, England.
Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Pisgah View Memorial Park, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
The care of Mrs. Rhinehart has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
