Dorothy Rhodes

Dorothy Lewis Rhodes, age 85, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Mission Hospitals – St. Joseph Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mattie Carpenter Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Blake H. Rhodes who died in 1989 and a son, Rex Rhodes, who died in 1997. She retired from American Enka Corp. and was a member of Acton United Methodist Church. Dorothy enjoyed sewing and cross stitch. She is survived by two sons, Ronald Rhodes and his wife, Pat, of Webster and Roland Rhodes and his wife, Martha, of Canton; two sisters, Helen Holt of Candler and Barbara Shidner of Gaffney, South Carolina; two brothers, Bill Lewis of Warner Robins, Georgia and Jack Lewis of Maggie Valley, seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ronald Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
