Dorothy Rogers

Canton-Dorothy "Dot" Hooper Rogers-65 of 11 Sharp Mountain Road died Thursday, March 06, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of Bertha O'Neil Hooper of Canton and the late Candler Hooper. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Don Hooper who died in 1962. She retired from B.A.S.F. as a machine operator in 1989 with 34 years of service.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a nephew, Randy Pope of Canton, a niece, Donna H. Parton of Waynesville, one great-nephew, Josh Parton of Waynesville and 2 great-nieces, Jordan Parton of Waynesville and Anna Carroll Pope of Canton.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003 at East Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Gwyn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence. Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Parton, Jimmy Parton, Mitchell Burress, Wayne Howell, Billy O'Neil, Tracy O'Neil, Steve Henson and Dick Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale O'Neil, Bucky O'Neil, Max Smathers and Kelly Henson.
