Dorothy Shephard

Dorothy Anderson Shephard, age 89, died on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Lee Estes and Oberia Parker Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Ruben Shephard, who died in 2001; a son, Lonnie H. Shephard, who died in 1986; and brothers, Bill, Jack, Charlie, and Francis Anderson. She was a member of West Canton Baptist Church, the Home Demonstration Club, and worked at the YMCA for 15 years. She is survived by a son Steve Shephard and his wife, Jackie, and a grandson, Stephen Mason Shephard all of Canton. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend George Holley officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
