Dorothy Tinney

Waynesville, NC, Dorothy Sumner Tinney, age 84, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Autumn Care Nursing Home. A native of Hampden County, MA, she was the daughter of the late William Squire and Grace Sumner Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Clifton Tinney, who died in 1975; one brother, William Hall; and one sister, Marguerite Stone. She retired from Digital Corporation in Westfield, MA and was a member of Southwick Congregational Church of Southwick, MA. She is survived by one son, Keith Tinney, of Montgomery, MA; one daughter, Deborah LaPorte and her husband, Kenneth, of Waynesville, NC; two sisters, June Rathay and Eunice Spencer, both of Montgomery, MA; and one grandson, Vince LaPorte, of Waynesville, NC. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Massachusetts. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786.
