Dorothy Wood

Waynesville, Dorothy Johnson Wood, age 92, of Lily Lane, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Pink and Jeanette Early Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy Clark; second husband, Ray Wood; a brother, Claude Johnson; and a step-daughter, Anita Cooper. Dorothy was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Upon her retirement as a claim representative with Social Security Administration, Dorothy was able to focus on some of her favorite pastimes, such as flowers, arts and crafts, and gardening. She was also recognized through the NC Cooperative Extension as a Master Gardner, but her greatest recognition in life was the unconditional love displayed to her family. Dorothy is survived by two sons, Tommy Clark and wife Kathy, of the Lake Logan community and Kirk Clark, of Waynesville; step-son, Danny Wood, of Canton; step-daughter, Sandra Morgan, of Canton; two grandchildren, Jeremy Clark and wife, Beth, and Timothy Clark; three great-grandchildren, Isaac, Abigail and Aaron Clark; and seven step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend David Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
