Dortha Smith

Waynesville, Dortha Justice Smith, age 89, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Smoky Mountain Health and Rehabilitation Center.

A native of Madison County, she had lived in Haywood County since 1956. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Breckenridge and Mary Leona Webb Justice. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Smith; seven brothers, William, Dean, Ray, Edward, C.J., Charlie and James Justice; one sister, Sarah Plemmons; two sister-in-law's Lucille and Peggy Justice and a brother-in-law, Wilbur Dean Plemmons.

Dortha was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 50 years. She was a member of Golden Harvester's group and a member of the Red Hatters. She had a servant's heart and enjoyed helping others. Her family was the center of her life.

She is survived by four sons; Clinton (Cathy) of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, Mike (Mariann), Ronnie (Donna) and Larry (Sandra) all of Waynesville; sisters-in-laws, Robbie Hargrove, Bonnie Buchanan, Polly Justice, Eleanor Justice, Mary Justice, Wanda Justice and Linda Justice; six grandchildren, Katy (Kevin) Mosley, Tiffany (Phillip) Turner, Matt (Emily) Smith, Jenny (Jared) Trull, Brandon (Amanda) Smith and Ethan Smith; and nine great-grandchildren, Clayton, Reagan and Lincoln Mosley, Jake, Joseph and Jessie Rae Trull, Makenna and Abgail Turner and Peyton Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Allens Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Scotty Patrick, Reverend Lloyd Fish and Reverend Eddie Deitz officiating. A private burial will take place Sunday afternoon at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandson-in-laws. At other times, the family will be at the home of Larry Smith, 261 Parrish Farm Road.
