Canton – Douglas Bruce Alexander, 82, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Haywood Regional Medical Center.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Bruce and Mary Knight Alexander. Doug was a United States Air Force veteran and a member of Long Branch Baptist Church. He retired from Champion International in 1998 with 22 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kay Scott Alexander; two sons, Scott Alexander of Hayesville and Shawn Alexander and his wife, Teresa, of Canton; one sister, Sharon Henderson of Canton; five grandchildren, Hunter Alexander, Kayte Leatherwood and husband, Stephen, Emily Roberts and husband, Wesley, Kolby Alexander and Kelsey Alexander; and one great-grandson, John Lee Leatherwood.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Long Branch Baptist Church with the Reverend Shanne Baker officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
