Douglas Carlton Corzine

Candler, Doug Corzine, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024 at the Charles George VA Medical Hospice Center after a long illness.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Carlton Corzine and Virginia Long. Doug was a member of the Clyde Central United Methodist Church. He served honorably in the United States Army and was an employee at the Charles George VA Medical Center until he retired.

Doug is survived by his wife of 28 years, Meritha Corzine; step-son, Scott Jackson (Melanie); and step-granddaughter, Holly.

Our family would like to express appreciation to the Security Staff at the Community Living Center (CLC) entrance and all of the staff at CLC1 and CLC2 for the excellent care received by Doug and all the veterans that enter your doors. All of you are so respectful, kind, and thoughtful, not only to your patients but their families as well. Doug loved each and every one of you.

To honor Doug’s wishes, no formal services are planned. A private service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project at 1990 Fordham Drive, Suite 100, Fayetteville, NC 28304 or a charity of your choice.

The care of Mr. Corzine has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton and an online memorial register is available at “Obituaries” at www.wellsfuneralhome.com
