Douglas Cothern

April 5, 1947 — September 24, 2005

Douglas "Doug" Floyd Cothern, age 58, of 662 Underwood Cove Road died Saturday, September 24, 2005 at his residence. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of Floyd G. Cothern of Waynesville and the late Doris Wright Cothern who died September 13, 2005. He was a 1965 graduate of Waynesville Township High School and a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patricia Glavich Cothern; a son, Douglas Todd Cothern and his wife, Jessica Rogers Cothern of Waynesville; a sister, Cheryl Lynn Ward of Sylva; a brother, Don Cothern of Bryson City and four grandchildren, Brittany Jane and Rodney Brock Medford and Kayla Leigh and Coleman Walker Cothern. A memorial service will be Sunday, September 25, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. at Allens Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Eddie Deitz and Reverend Ricky Mason officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. prior to the service in the sanctuary of the church.
