Douglas Robertson

Waynesville-Douglas Ross Robertson, age 81, of 128 Lenwood Drive, died on Monday, October 29, 2007 at his residence. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Frank W. and Louise Ross Robertson. He received a BA from Washington and Jefferson College and a Masters from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of World War II having served in the European Theatre. He worked for Rike's Department Store in Dayton, Ohio and worked for Top Value Stamps and as a realtor in Dayton and Louisville, KY. He was a former real estate agent with Main Street Reality in Waynesville and a former member of Kiwanis and Rotary. He volunteered at Haywood Regional Medical Center, Meals on Wheels, and the Open Door. He was active in sports, particularly football, basketball, and track. He maintained an interest in all sports throughout his life and ran in many races. He was a fine husband, father, and grandfather. His sense of humor helped him through some tough spots. He loved life and as he said, "I didn't get cheated." He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Louise "Gini" Barkley Robertson; three sons, Stephen B. Robertson and his wife, Dayvee, of Dayton, OH, Daniel W. Robertson and Peggy Touchet of Waynesville, and John D. Robertson of Nashville, TN; and one granddaughter, Anna Catherine Robertson. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Clyde Central United Methodist Church of which he was an active member. Reverend Randy Tingle, Reverend James Hart, and Reverend John Spaulding will officiate. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. The family will receive friends following the services at the church.
