Douglas Rogers

October 15, 1958 — December 22, 2008

Spring Creek, Douglas S. Rogers, age 50, of Clark Cove Road, died on Monday, December 22, 2008 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of Samuel and Maxine Keener Rogers. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gene Gentry. He was a mechanic and a member of Meadowfork Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday-School teacher. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Elaine Allen Rogers; four sons, Steven and Ryan Rogers, both of Leicester, Jeremy Rogers and his wife, Sarah, of Waynesville, and Joshua Rogers of Spring Creek; three sisters, Deborah Gentry and Jan Sawyer and her husband, Junior, of Spring Creek, and Donna Poteat and her husband, Mike, of Newport, TN; one brother, Stevie Rogers and his wife, Ricki Jo, of Spring Creek; and three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Lillian, and Samuel Douglas Rogers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Meadow Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Andy McDevitt and Reverend Jeremy Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Roaring Fork Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Miles Briggs, Jake Willett, Brandon Allen, Grant Rogers, Michael and John Poteat, and Steve and Scott Messer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
