Douglass Mccrory

Waynesville, Doug L. McCrory, age 65, passed away, Thursday, June 14, 2012 at John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville. Born in Newton, MS, Doug grew up in Macon, MS and lived in Hattiesburg, MS, for 20 years before moving to Starkville, MS. He most recently made his home in Waynesville, NC. He was the son of Rosemond Smith "Mac" McCrory and Mary Giles McCrory. Doug was a 1968 graduate of East Mississippi Community College and earned his degree in Business Administration from Delta State University in 1970. He retired from Sunburst Bank as a Senior Vice President. Doug will be remembered for his larger than life personality. He always looked at life with a "glass half full" mentality and had a wonderful sense of humor. The love of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Dodie West McCrory, one daughter, Mary Clair McCrory Ford and her husband Chris of West Point, MS; step children, Margaret Watkins of Ghent, West Virginia; West Watkins and his wife Melanie of Louisville, MS; one sister, Beverly Smitherman and her husband Emmett of Starkville, MS; one brother Mike McCrory and his wife Peggy of Brandon, MS; two grandchildren, Heath and Kyle Ford, step-grandchildren; Laura Leigh and Karley Grayce Watkins and several nieces and nephews.
