Cruso - Matthew Heyer Bulluck, age 79, of Dream Mountain in the Cruso Community passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 28, 2005 with his wife, a son and a daughter in attendance at VA Medical Center in Asheville. He was the son of the late Dr. Ernest S. and Mary H. Bulluck and was born on March 18, 1926. He attended Guilford College and the University of Maryland, receiving the MD degree in 1948. He was trained in general surgery at New York Polyclinic Hospital and neurological surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He was certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and a member of the Harvey Cushing Society. He served in the United States Air Force and the United States Army, last as Chief of Neurosurgery at Brooke General Hospital, San Antonio, TX. In addition to his wife of 11 years, Nancy Garland, he is survived by six children, Matthew H. of Winston-Salem, NC, John W. of Austin, TX, Mary H. of Wilmington, NC, David W. of Greensboro, NC, Elizabeth Salzarulo of Highlands, NC and Charles E., and their families. A requiem mass will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church with Father Gary Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. . Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Anglican Mission Church, P.O. Box 895, Lake Junaluska, NC 28765 or to an organization of one's choice.
