"1935 ̶ 2017"

Land O Lakes, Florida, Dr. James Kevin Davis, age 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Hospice Unit of NC VA Medical Center in Asheville.

A native of Seffner, Florida, he was the son of the late Julius Smith and Pearl Elizabeth Russell Davis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers. Kevin was a member of Mid-Lakes Christian Church and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Kevin received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Lincoln Chiropractic College, Indianapolis, Indiana; and attended the University of Florida (Go Gators). He was a perpetual member of the Branford, Florida Masonic Lodge #130 AF & AM, Egypt Temple Shrine and Scottish Rite Free Masonry, both of Tampa, Florida, and a Charter member of the Branford Florida Shrine Club. At the age of 48, Kevin retired to travel the world. He loved RVing and cheering on his Florida Gators.

Kevin is survived by this wife of 8 years, Margaret "Susan" Davis; two daughters, Melody Davis, and her husband, Tom Monteleone, of Land O Lakes, Florida; Renee, and her husband, Larry Schultz, of Port Charlotte, Florida; son, J. Kevin Davis, II, and his wife, Janice Davis, of Canton, North Carolina; stepdaughter, Scarlett C. Denman, and her spouse, Jami Denman, of York, Pennsylvania; granddaughter, Susie, and her husband, Chris Morgan; great-grandchild, Thomas; his granddaughter Katie, and her husband, Steven Reese, of Nashville, Tennessee.

We will receive friends and family for a Celebration of Life at the Wells Events & Reception Center, 33 Wells Events Way, Waynesville, NC 28786 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 11531 Highway 301, Dade City, Florida. Burial will follow at Dade City Cemetery with Masonic rites provided by Branford Masonic Lodge #130 AF & AM. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until service time at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that you contribute to the Gideon International Haywood East Camp, P.O. Box 1204, Canton, NC 28716, as Kevin felt that this was an excellent way to help others.
