E. HAYWOOD PLOTT

Skyland, NC-Edward Haywood Plott, age 79, of 9 Plott Place, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, January 15, 2003.

Born and raised in Waynesville, NC, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland (G.C.) and Pauline McCracken Plott. After graduating in 1943 from Waynesville Township High School, he served in the US Army from 1949-50. Following his marriage in 1952 to Ruth Bowman Plott, to whom he was married for 50 years, he made his home and raised his family in Skyland and worked for Six Associates Architects and Engineers for 30 years. He later was the self-employed proprietor of Plott Enterprises, Inc. He was a long-time member of Skyland United Methodist Church and held several lay positions in the church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, David Plott and his wife, Judi, of Youngsville, NC and Lt. Colonel Jonathan Plott and his wife, Diane, of Columbia, MD; two sisters, Anna Jean Battle of Andrews, NC and his twin sister, Helen Luckadoo, of Waynesville; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Jason Plott as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18, 2003 at Skyland United Methodist Church with Reverend Arnie Corriher officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. An additional memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday January 18, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Charles Horton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately after the service. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Mountain Area Hospice, P.O. Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802 and the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
