Edgar Hall, Jr.

Edgar Lee Hall, Jr., age 90, of Hall Farm Road, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at his residence. He was a native of Buncombe County and had lived in Haywood County most of his life. He was the son of the late, Edgar Lee Hall, Sr. and Nellie Faye Massey Hall. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Gary Hall and Hilliard Clontz; a daughter, Gail Hall Farmer; a grandson, Derek Hall; and a sister, Bertie Singleton. He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II. Edgar retired from Dayco International in 1977 and was a member of Burnette Cove Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming and gardening and sitting on his porch. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris Ford Hall; a son, Dennis Hall and his wife, Doris, of Canton; a brother, Bobby Hall of Asheville; a sister, Marie Deaver of Canton; five grandchildren, Randy Hall, Kim F. Burnette, Brent Hall, Kendra F. Smathers, and Tracie H. Brookshire; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2011, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Mark Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery with military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Randy and Brent Hall, Joey McKay, Tim Smathers, William Burnette, and Kenneth Farmer.
