Edgar Norman "Buddy" Plott, age 89, died Thursday, August 24, 2006, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late James and Flora Kinsland Plott. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Hubert, Howard, Fred, Wayne, and Alvin Plott; two sisters, Annie Ledbetter and Elizabeth Potts. He attended Brevard Junior College and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Western Carolina University. He retired from V.A. Medical Center in Oteen with 30 years of service where he was Assistant Administrator to the Chief of Staff. Buddy was of the Presbyterian faith. Buddy was assigned to the Medical Administration Officer Candidate School where upon completion he was commissioned Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army Medical Administration Service. Buddy served in both World War II and the Korean War. Upon his retirement he pursued some interests which include gardening (flowers and vegetables), antique collecting and restoration, reading, and genealogy. He is survived by two sisters, Doris E. Plott of Canton and Lucy Plott Swofford of Hendersonville; a sister-in-law, Grace T. Plott of Canton; two nieces; two nephews; and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. A graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road with the Reverend Larry Reeves officiating. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Doris Plott. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bon-A-Venture Cemetery Maintenance Fund, 32 Rhoda Street, Canton, NC 28716.
