Waynesville, Edith Chambers Bridges, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Cromer Chambers and Arby French Swayngim Chambers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, M.T. "Buster" Bridges, as well as eight brothers and sisters. Edith was a member First Baptist Church of Waynesville and until recent years was very active in her church activities. She will be remembered for her fun-loving and caring spirit. She is survived by one son, Charles Bridges and his wife, Grace Anne, of Clyde; a daughter, Shirley Ezell and her husband, Don, of Waynesville; one sister, Annette Miller of Clyde; a brother, Cordell Chambers of Savannah, Georgia; six grandchildren, Donna Moody, Susan DelBene, Michael Ezell, Charles Gregory Bridges, Steven Bridges, and Melanie Mason; nine great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011, in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. Robert Prince and Reverend Dr. Jack C. Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
