Edith Cable

Haywood County – Edith Louise Cable, age 87, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at John F. Keever, Jr., Solace Center in Asheville. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Lavada Parham Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Neil Patterson Cable, who died in 1993; a daughter, Gretta Payne; four brothers; and one sister. She was employed for 14 years with Dr. Albert Cline and Dr. Carey Wells as a dental assistant/receptionist. Edith was a member of Grace Church in the Mountains. She loved to quilt and sew and enjoyed reading. Edith spent the last 20 years enjoying time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Sherri Johnson and her husband, Bill, of Acworth, Georgia and Jean Collins and her husband, Joe, of Hendersonville; a son, Milton Cable and his wife, Cindy, of Alexander; a brother, J. B. Wilson of Haywood County; four grandchildren, Rhonda Bryant, Anna Brooks, Eric Johnson, and Jeanna Baugh; eight great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Grace Church in the Mountains with the Reverend Arlene Lukas officiating. A reception will follow hosted by the Daughters of the King. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Care Partners Hospice Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
