EDITH CATHEY CLARK

Lake Junaluska-Edith Cathey Howell Clark, age 92, of Crestridge Drive, died Tuesday, January 28, 2003 at her residence after an extended illness.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Weaver and Cora Smathers Cathey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carson W. Clark, who died in 1997. She was a retired beautician and a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville.

She is survived by two sons, Phillip Wayne Howell of Christiansburg, Virginia and Richard ''Dick'' Howell of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by her loving caregiver Linda Wood.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Lyn Sorrells and Reverend John Christy officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Harace Green, Coleman Wilson, Douglas Howell, Charles Dotson, Bob McCleary, and Danny Stroup.
