Edith Medford Dotson, age 86, of the Thickety Community, died Monday, February 18, 2008 at Haywood Christian Convalescent Center after a brief illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late, Wilson Richard and Dixie Marie Sorrells Medford. Edith was a lifetime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family meant the world to her and they were her pride and joy. She is survived by her husband, Howard Lee Dotson; three daughters, Linda D. Patton and her husband, Doug, of Clyde, Mary Frances Phillips and Lee Anna Hardin and her husband, Steve, all of Canton; two sisters, Alveta Fletcher and her husband, T.J. and Jennie Mae Early and her husband, Hugh, all of Canton; six grandchildren, Traci Wike, Kelli Ayn McLeod, Brad Phillips, Wendy Blue, Clint and Ben Hardin, and ten great-grandchildren, Austin, Hunter, and Tanner Wike, Amy, Catie, and Jake Jackson, Peyton Blue, Isabel, Wrenn, and Andrew Hardin. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Bruce Cayton and Reverend Mitch Wike officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Doug Patton, Steve Hardin, Jonathan McLeod, Brad Phillips, Clint and Ben Hardin, Austin Wike and Jake Jackson. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
