Edith Harris

October 12, 1919 — November 8, 2014

Edith Haney Harris, age 95, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Weaver and Elizabeth Mathis Haney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Harris, who died 1996; and a son, Kenneth Harris, four sisters; and five brothers. She was the oldest member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Edith was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved the outdoors. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Judy and Neil Clark, Barbara and Roy Stamey, and Linda and Ronnie Medlin all of Clyde; eight grandchildren, Rodney Clark, Reverend Barry Clark, Shari Allen, Pollyanna Izlar, Sean Medlin, Ronna Rathbone, Janet Pruitt, and Greg Harris; 13 great-grandchildren; three step great-grandsons; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Jeff King and Reverend Barry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 39 Robinson Road, Clyde, NC 28721. The Harris family wishes to extend a thank you to the staff of Silver Bluff for the wonderful care that was given to their entire family.
