Edith Henson

Canton - Edith West Henson, age 91, of Kims Cove Road passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Mila Phillips West. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Scruggs and Cotton Mathis; and one brother, Fred West. Edith loved gospel music and was the music director for many years at East Fork Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member of Crestview Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Edith was formerly employed by American Enka for 27 years and retired from Henson's Florist where she worked for many years along with her husband. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William F. "Bill" Henson; several nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends and neighbors, such as Reverend Dean Clontz, Mike Allen, and Dale Green. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2015 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Johnny Foster, Reverend Ricky Mason, and Reverend Dean Clontz officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. prior to the service.
